brunetto the doggo puppet says 'woof?'Milena is a PhD student in Musicology who studies marionette parodies, homosexuality, objectification, and folk song collection in early 20thC England. She’s also studied the arrival of the Ballets russes in Paris and their connection to nostalgia, French theatre, and Franco-Russian political events. When she’s not staring very hard at puppet photos in old newspapers, she explores ideas of heritage, culture, and the mythic past in Folk Metal bands of the 2000s. More importantly, she makes a mean spiked banana bread and some damn good pie. She also makes puppets.

Sunaina is a Ph.D. student in ethnomusicology and really loves baking and cooking! She researches Native Hawaiian identity in island reggae music. She is particularly interested in the ways that island reggae musicians perform an indigenous identity in this music, which involves complicated negotiations of politics, race, and modernity. She is currently doing fieldwork for her dissertation in Hawai‘i. Sunaina’s favorite thing to bake is cake, especially Victoria Sandwiches. She also plans to catch up on the most recent season of the Great British Bake-Off soon!
